The Gypsy community is extensive in Portugal. There are roadside signs indicating horse and carriage vehicles indicating the gypsy mode of transportation on the public highways. Gypsy markets are special and happen in various towns on Sunday. From what I have been told, they vary greatly and are not necessarily the same thing twice in a row. Price haggling is expected and is an art form that has to be experienced to learn it.
Marc, Randy and myself headed to Moncarapacho on Sunday January 7. We were not disappointed. The rows of vendors went on forever. Everything and anything was available. Clothing, food, plants – you could literally furnish an entire home and make dinner.
But a market does not an entire day make… so, it was a perfect afternoon to go to the beach.
