From the valley, to the mountain…

Revisiting favourite places is how Jackson and I take each other for walks here in Estoi. On Monday Feb 5, we did just that, meandering back forth through some small valleys and up the sides of steep hills. There’s always something to discover particularly if I remember to look down.

This minuscule Jack-in-the pulpit flower was one of several popping up in a grove of olive trees.

These landscapes never fail to intrigue especially when the sheep are in the meadow.

Half of Cerro De São Miguel – Moncarapacho

On Tuesday, Randy invited us to join him and his friend Michele recently arrived from Ottawa plus Pat & Gary on another (for us) hike up the “back” of São Miguel. We agreed to meet at a particular point in the countryside which I wasn’t entirely certain about. However, i am determined to improve my knowledge of the area even if it means getting lost, not being certain and being late. We did arrive at the right place about 15 minutes after everyone else. So, Jackson and I set out on our own. it was a lovely morning, the sky was clear, the birds were singing and there was a lovely breeze.
