Sunday was a literal washout with the rain but Monday Feb 12 was sunny with the mercury hitting 20 degrees Celsius by early afternoon. it was high time for a decent hike, so Jackson and I set off up the hill behind the quinta toward the shrine. Three quarters of the way up, there is a gravel track that runs laterally across the south side of the hill and connects with a tiny paved road just east of the summit. I thought it time to revisit this route.

There is a cobblestone lane next to the ruined building. The lane looks to be in better shape than the building and I yielded to the hankering I had to explore. It gives access to number of fields under cultivation and leads upwards to the geo-physical marker at the top of the hill. I have been looking for a walkable path to it for years!

The hike downhill took us into a lovely little valley filled with birdsong, flowers and sunshine. The recent rain had brought out new growth and lushness of scenery and the scent in the air was mesmerizing.

And thus another week begins and another day ends in the Algarve.
