Sun, Sand and Sea

Saturday January 25 2025

Having been here exactly one week, it seemed criminal that I had yet to make a pilgrimage to the beach. The weather gods were kind on Saturday, so headed off to the Ria Formosa Trail and Faro Beach. It was a beautiful, sunny, warm day but I wasn’t there at the right time to see lots of shore birds.

There was a lovely breeze, lots of warm sunshine and plenty of puddles on the trail to keep me occupied. My goal was the beach at the far end of the boardwalk past the golf course. There were plenty of people of all ages out enjoying the beautiful day.

The beach was wonderful with the surf rolling in. The water was it’s usually; temperature -freezing cold. The sand was wet enough from the recent rainfall that it wasn’t being blown about by the wind.

The walking, fresh air, sunshine and sea all conspired to create an appetite . That meant stopping for refreshment before crossing the brand new two lane bridge now connecting the island to the mainland.

And thus another day in my life in the Algarve comes to a close with so very much to be thankful for.
