Faro and oceanside hike

Sunday evening and Monday morning were somewhat wet and cloudy. The weather cleared off enough that Randy, Laurie and myself headed off to the boardwalk behind Faro airport that leads to the beach. There have been sections added to the board walk since my last foray into this area and it makes the hike/walk a little more civilized and less open to interaction between golfers and hikers. In the tide pools behind the sandbar barrier, there were lots of birds, spoon bills, coots, ducks that look like mallards but are actually a relative, egrets of various sorts and herons, to name a few. We followed the boardwalk across the ponds to the beach. The tide was in so the ponds were full, the wind was up and there were a few dark clouds on the horizon. It was amazingly beautiful with the sun breaking through.

And then came the part that I love the most…the beach and the ocean…

And after a long walk, we reached the boardwalk that meanders through the fishing village. There were local fisher folk, cats, dogs and flowers.

And then we walked across the bridge to the mainland and our waiting parked car. In the quiet of my apartment, I can hear the waves on the beach, the sound of the surf.

    1. March is a really variable month weather wise, I’m told. The clown is , apparently, a comic representation of Saint Anthony. Still kind of creepy, I agree.
