Five Feet, Nine Inches Above Ground

Friday March 18 and Saturday March 19 were days spent in anticipation of what the murky weather warnings for Sunday would bring. Friday afternoon, Randy invited me on a spontaneous walk through an urban park near Olhão. There were birds everywhere including hoopoes that were very shy so don’t appear in any photos. There was also a herd of goats in an adjacent field alongside a recently planted piece of land with the plants under protective white plastic coverings.

A trip to the waterfront and a search for a missing piece of boardwalk was our next endeavour. It was an unexpected pleasure to spend some time on the lovely beach in Olhão. The aforementioned boardwalk extends from Fuseta to Olhão except for one little section that doesn’t seem to exist…yet.

On the way back to Estoi, we made a detour to look for orchids in a field near a housing development where we stayed a few years ago.

And as we were about to leave the area, some decorative plants and animals stopped us.

And thus another day has passed and Spring approaches!
