“The road to hell is paved with good intentions”, was one of my English professor’s favourite responses to excuses regarding requests for extensions on essays. In my own defence, I’m not on that particular path, I’m on the retirement road thus blog posts will happen when they happen!
This was a week of rediscovering the town of Estoi. It’s growing with new residences sprouting up in various place and my familiar spots – most of them- are still there. It’s all new for Jackson and it’s fun to watch him explore his environment and become familiar with his surroundings.

I’ve posted photos of the Pousada on previous trips but it always calls me back. Once the palatial home of local gentry, it is now a high end hotel that permits everyone to wander through the extensive walled grounds including an orange grove.

The following images were taken along the road behind the Pousada. It serves as the access to where I’m staying and the hotel.

By Wednesday, I was ready to explore further afield so headed toward the hills on the other side of the autoroute.
