Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life…Pablo Picasso

The week began with a road trip to Quinta da Tor, a popular vineyard and winery a short distance from Loulé. Artist and friend, Marc Thivierge was involved in an art exposition that was officially opening on Sunday January 22. It was well worth the gut wrenching up hill and down dale drive from Estoi across country and back!

And now the gang’s all here with the addition of Pat and Gary!
Life imitating art.
Quinta da Tor is a lovely spot to relax by the infinity pool and wine-taste…
Century plant or Agave Americana…
it lives anywhere from 10 to 30 years
and toward the end of it’s life, sends up a flowering stalk 8 t0 9 meters tall.
Or wander the lovely grounds or take an organized tour of the grape growing and wine making facilities.
Wonderful sunny days made for great walks with Jackson and a prime opportunity to rediscover the nooks and crannies of the local hills surrounding Estoi.
The vibrant blue caught my eye.
We began our upward climb through this valley
following the paths of local hunters
At first glance, I thought this was an abandoned building…
on closer inspection, it appears to be an abandoned limestone quarry
I was about to perch for a moment and saw this…
any geologists in the room?
Estoi at the bottom of the hill
We passed the better part of Tuesday exploring a new area for me
Thursday began with
a surprise visit from a flock of sheep
A lamb of a different flock
The sheep are in the meadow…

And so the days pass and life is good in the Algarve.
