Sunday, Sunday…

It was my first Sunday in the Algarve this year, January 14. Being the third weekend of the month, it was gypsy market time in Estoi at the local fairground. We all met up, Randy, Marc, Harald, Bela, Patricia, and Gary at various points in the morning to attend the event. It’s a colourful, loud, and vibrant market with a little bit of everything for sale – food, clothing, gardening supplies, live birds and household goods.

At a certain point, a band of women playing castanets and tambours lead by an accordionist began touring the market. I’m not sure of the event but it was captivating .

There not being many eateries open on Sunday in Estoi at this time of year, Pat and Gary graciously invited us to their place for lunch. Harald and Bela headed off on their own and the rest of us spent a lovely afternoon basking in the sunshine and breeze on the terrace next to the pool. Thank you Pat and Gary!
