This is one of several hikes that have become a favourite. First off, it’s not too long, secondly, it’s relatively easy and thirdly, with seasonal changes and because of location, there’s always something new to see.
So, Tuesday, January 30, the usual suspects, Randy, Marc, Pat, Gary, and myself and Jackson met up at the trail head about midmorning and did the trail in “reverse”. There were a few people on the trail including a young couple with a camera with a massive lens that looks like it could take moon shots. They were birdwatchers, I think, and it’s a good area for that activity.

It was a wonderful hike that ended in time for lunch so we went off in search of an open eatery hoping for an outside terrace. Unfortunately, that wasn’t to be. It’s early enough in the season that restaurants are not always open on Tuesdays and those that are haven’t opened their terraces for food service. Although dogs are allowed in restaurants in Portugal, it’s an optional regulation that restaurant owners can choose to participate in or not. In this instance, Jackson was not welcome, so we went home for lunch. As a matter of policy, I do not leave dogs in cars in parking lots, so that wasn’t an option. Regardless, no harm done. It was a wonderful day.
