We packed up and said goodbye to our little perch on the side of the mountain near Kalkan and headed north-west to the Datça Peninsula and the town of Datça. Before we began the three hour trip, I took some parting shots. It is a truly beautiful place. It was particularly difficult saying goodbye to Missy.

Our actual destination was the small village of Kizlan a few kilometres outside of Daitça. The drive along the peninsula took us to the tops of mountains and bottoms of valleys. It was definitely beautiful scenery.

Our abode was a semi-detached cottage in the garden of a larger house. There was a pool – not in service, a gin & tonic tree (lemons) and some lovely flowers. It was very cozy and comfortable.

There were almond trees in bursting into bloom in anticipation of the Datça Almond Festival the following week which we were destined to miss. I took a little tour around the village to stretch my legs.

Our next destination was the town itself, a port of approximately 25,000 inhabitants that swells significantly during the summer months.

This was also a quest for dinner which we managed to find in a restaurant overlooking the port. My friend decided to try a glass of red wine. It was served refrigerator cold which didn’t improve the taste of the wine. Mine was a non-alcoholic beverage.

We watched the echoes of the sunset while two youngsters happily jostled each other over fishing rights.

Your participation in this journey is much appreciated. Stay tuned for Knidos. Thank you for reading!
